Portraiture Photography

Portraiture is the form of photography using a human or animal form. It is the unique art of capturing a moment or emotion. Usually portraiture photography is a staged event starring people and animals. In basic works it is a picture of someone's appearance.


Portrait photography is the capture of a person or a small group of people in which the face and expression is predominant. The main objective is to capture the likeness, personality and mood of the person. The focus of the photograph is the person's face, although the body and background may also be included.


A portrait is a composed image of a person in still position. The most popular form of portraiture is family photographs that commemorates a special event.


Some notable Portrait Photographers include; Roger Fenton and Mathew Brady.
