Movement Photography

Movement photography is the art of capturing an image whilst the subject is in movement. Some examples include: sports, light and sunsets.


Movement photographs normally tell some sort of a story and is related widely to photojournalism. The images need to have timeliness, objectivity and narrative.


Movement photographers must often make decisions instantly and carry photographic equipment with them whilst being exposed to significant obstacles such as; physical danger, weather and crowds.

Some notable Movement Photographers include; Robert F Sargent and Dorothea Lange.
